FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6:  EXPLORE PORTLAND AND INHALE SOME BOOKS  (B)

Start the day with a delightful breakfast in one of Portland’s most popular breakfast hang-outs, then join your local guide for a tour of Portland including a visit to the world-famous International Rose Gardens and the historic Pittock Mansion. The view of the city with Mt. Hood in the background is breathtaking.

It’s lunchtime! Have some fun on your own and sample one of Portland’s iconic food trucks before arriving at the world-famous Powell Bookstore, the largest (and most interesting) bookstore in North America. After a brief tour, enjoy some “talk time” with one of Oregon’s well-know authors.

Complete the perfect day with some shopping time in the funky Northwest 23 neighborhood where century-old Victorian and Craftsman-style storefronts housing unique boutiques stand alongside national retailers, interspersed with coffee shops and on-trend restaurants and bars.  NO SALES TAX!

This evening is free for you to explore the various entertainment districts of Portland and try out one of the dozens of nearby restaurants and cafes, famous for their West Coast cuisine.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7:  EXPLORE THE BEAUTIFUL OREGON COAST  (B/D)

We will get an early start to this spectacular day. After breakfast, board your private coach for a 90-minute journey and “book talk” along the way to the rugged Oregon coastline. You’ll have time to explore the beaches and boutiques of exotic Manzanita before moving on to explore the antique shops of Cannon Beach, lunch on your own and the famous Haystack Rock. A short drive brings you to historic Fort Clatsop, winter residence of Lewis and Clark in 1805. After a short tour, enjoy a private session with one of the resident historians. The journey back to Portland is highlighted by a relaxing wine tasting event at one of Oregon’s premier wineries. Return to the hotel for a short breather before heading out for your final night together and an exquisite dinner at one of Portland’s premier seafood restaurants. It will be an evening you won’t soon forget.
